Job description

The Director of Finance is responsible for long-term financial goals and developing strategies to achieve the financial objectives with senior management. This position forms a part of the Executive Management Team which determines all business decisions.

Duties & Responsibilities

Directing financial planning and strategy.
Direct the day-to-day accounting operations including oversight of accounts payable and receivable, payroll and maintenance of the general ledger.
Prepare, analyze and present financial reports (income statements and balance sheets) in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements to senior management.
Lead the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes, as well as producing monthly budgets versus actual reports.
Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
Oversee audit functions, coordinate activities with outside audit/ accounting firms and review the firms’ performance.
Monitors all local tax compliance that applies, and ensures that taxes are charged correctly and collected. Directing financial planning and strategy.

Monitors all local tax compliance that applies, and ensures that taxes are charged correctly and collected.
File the local tax with the concerned authority on a monthly/ regular basis.
Develop appropriate fiscal strategies and oversee their implementation.
Responsible to liaise with Ownership of fiscal matters as appropriate and in coordination with the General Manager.
Excellent knowledge of VAT and governmental regulations.
Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; periodically update the company’s accounting manual.
Managing internal controls.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues to ensure optimal performance.
Work with the rest of the leadership team to decide which projects are the highest priority against the business’ targets and which can be executed with available resources.
Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with colleagues to facilitate delivery and compliance with the strategy.
Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimizing cost.
The Director of Finance needs to inspire and motivate the team.
Consistently manage performance firmly and fairly.
Show moral courage, openness and honesty in all dealings.
Confident, assertive and self-assured.
Provide leadership to departments under control, coach and mentor them.
Develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions.
Set department objectives while monitoring the ongoing progress and performance.
Ensure strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate exchange of information and to implement change and improvements.
Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the employees.
Responsible for developing the appropriate organizational structure, resource plans and culture to support organization’s objectives and guest deliverables.
Provide leadership, coordination and coaching to the team. Ensuring they are trained enabling them to achieve the operational and financial metrics within their areas of responsibility and to succeed in their roles.
Complete regular performance reviews, manage attendance, holidays, disciplinary issues and procedures as appropriate.
Establish strategy and best practices for employees to ensure achievement of organization’s overall objectives.

Education & Training 

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field required; MBA/ CPA preferred.

Knowledge & Experience

Proven years of relevant work experience as a senior accountant or equivalent.
Working knowledge of GAAP, audits, and other regulatory requirements in the financial field
