Job description
The Mechanical/Swimming Pool Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operational management of the swimming pool and all related mechanical systems. This role ensures the pool area is always in excellent condition, with a focus on safety, cleanliness, water quality, and system efficiency. The supervisor also manages a team of pool technicians, conducts regular inspections, and ensures compliance with safety standards, while maintaining a high level of guest satisfaction.
Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the swimming pool and related facilities, ensuring a safe and clean environment for guests.
Oversee the monitoring and adjustment of pool water chemistry, including pH levels, chlorine, and other water treatments, ensuring they meet safety and health regulations.
Ensure that pool filtration systems, pumps, heaters, and other mechanical equipment are operating efficiently.
Conduct routine inspections of the pool area, equipment, and systems to identify and address maintenance needs.
Monitor water clarity, temperature, and flow rate, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal conditions.
Coordinate pool cleaning schedules, including vacuuming, skimming, and removing debris to maintain aesthetic appeal and hygiene.
Ensure proper safety equipment (e.g., life vests, rescue equipment) is available and in good working condition.
Mechanical & Pool Systems Maintenance:
Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of pool mechanical systems, including pumps, filters, heaters, and chemical dosing equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and quick repairs for any pool-related equipment failures.
Conduct preventive maintenance on all pool equipment to ensure its longevity and proper functionality.
Manage the calibration and testing of pool systems, ensuring that equipment is operating within manufacturer specifications.
Ensure that pool-related electrical systems are regularly checked and maintained, ensuring a safe environment.
Team Supervision & Training:
Supervise and lead a team of pool maintenance technicians and other staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
Train and mentor staff on pool operations, equipment handling, safety procedures, and guest interaction.
Create daily and weekly work schedules for the team, ensuring adequate coverage for the pool and maintenance tasks.
Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to staff to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with company standards.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations related to pool maintenance, water quality, and equipment handling.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and international swimming pool health and safety standards (e.g., chlorine levels, water filtration, pool signage).
Ensure that safety protocols are strictly followed, including emergency evacuation procedures and first aid response in the event of an accident.
Report and document any safety issues or incidents promptly and take corrective action as needed.
Inventory & Supply Management:
Monitor and manage the inventory of pool chemicals, supplies, and equipment, ensuring that stock levels are maintained and materials are reordered as needed.
Ensure that the pool area and equipment are stocked with the necessary cleaning supplies, tools, and safety items.
Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to manage budgets and expenses related to pool operations, ensuring cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
Education & Training
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Pool & Spa Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
Certifications:
Certification in Pool & Spa Maintenance (e.g., Pool Operator Certification, Certified Pool Technician, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Training:
On-the-job training will be provided, including specific knowledge of pool systems and equipment.
Ongoing professional development and training will be provided to keep up-to-date with industry best practices, safety protocols, and equipment.
